EngageFastLearning will participate in a professional workshop organized by the AI Institute of South Carolina for middle and high school teachers from the neighboring Richland2 school district. The company will get a chance to showcase their innovative AI platform and introduce teachers to the analogy narrative-based methodology and help them with setting up analogy lessons in their classroom in the upcoming Fall semester.
EngageFastLearning and their research collaborators have been invited to present their research on the use of narrative-based active learning to promote student engagement at the Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research’s national meeting at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Their conference abstract was selected for a short talk after peer review for presentation and use of EFL’s AI platform for narrative-based learning is of high interest at the meeting.
Dr. Katherine Ryker from the School of the Ocean, Earth and Environment, University of South Carolina will present Analogy lesson plan developed in collaboration with EngageFastLearning at the Earth Educators’ Rendezvous meeting in Pasadena CA on 12th July 2023. The lesson plan - Incorporating Analogical Reasoning into Earth Science: A Content-Agnostic Lesson Plan will be presented as part of a Share-a-thon. This 90 minute lesson plan is written to engage students with analogical reasoning that can be used by teachers at any point in the curriculum regardless of content. Example products from students will also be shared.
One of our partners, the AI Institute of South Carolina, organized a weeklong workshop for high school students from Richland Two school district. The students were exposed to latest AI methods in form of lectures, demos and hands-on exercises in different areas such as manufacturing, health and education. A session led by a graduate student from Prof. Amit Sheth’s group at the Institute, Thilini Wijesiriwardene, focused on use of Analogy exercises in Learning pioneered by EngageFastlearning and application of AI methods such as ChatGPT to facilitate student learning.
